Wisdom of The CrossJesus 101

Jesus is the whole of the bible. He is God and He is what all of the prophecy is about. That is where we start. Jesus is the cornerstone of the church He is the alpha and omega, He is the first and the last. Outside of Christ there is NO salvation. He is the whole of prophecy and when you don’t understand something, put Jesus in the middle of that question and see what happens. What did Jesus say about Himself…I will only mention three here. By Joshua Toupos
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.   But you are not willing to come to Me that you may have life. John 5:39
And the Holy Spirit spoke of Christ’s coming and His mission of what Jesus was saying before He even walked the earth!

Christ’s Death Fulfills God’s Will

Therefore, when He came into the world, He said:  “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire,    But a body You have prepared for Me.  In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin  You had no pleasure.  Then I said, ‘Behold, I have come- In the volume of the book it is written of Me- To do Your will, O God.’ ” Hebrews 10:5-7

Here below Jesus in Genesis is “the seed of the woman” is the first mention of a foe that will smash what Satan had taken by deceit. The devil then has been watching and plotting to keep this from happening. That must be very frustrating for him and that will ultimately play out in the Devils final plot to steal worship from the one and true God.   See Revelation 101. The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.”

So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, you are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, and you shall eat dust all the days of your life. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”  Genesis 3:14

The first mention of a savior who would come and rescue man from the predicament sin had placed on the whole of humanity. War was declared by God for deceiving mankind and stealing Dominion (ownership) from them by causing Adam and Eve to forfeit all that God has given them. It should be noted here that Eve was deceived and Adam willing chose to enter into that predicament with her. He loved her that much. And God loved us so much that ultimately He would become sin for us and taste death for us to redeem us back to God. I can’t emphasize enough that nothing caught God off guard. In His eternal counsel, He was willing going to give His own life for as many as who will put their trust in Him. What a wonderful Creator we have. Rejoice in His goodness and reflect as our parents loved us and gave us rules. So our heavenly Father has given us His 10 commandments not to be a cosmic killjoy but to lovingly keep us from literally getting eternally burned. (Hell) What kind of God would He be if the Lord didn’t tell us right from wrong and tell us that to be carnally minded is death?

This Means War

. And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

Enmity is warfare!  You and I are objects of open warfare between the forces of Satan and God Himself. The One who will crush Satan is prophesied as her Seed (Jesus) and your seed (The Antichrist) is the first prophecy and clue to the end of the devil and his man. Jesus is the seed, Christ, Messiah that was foretold that was to come. The leaders of His day did not recognize Him as the lamb of God that would take away the sins of the world. They were looking for a ruling king to crush the Roman occupation. The bible has a prophecy about both His first and second coming. Some Jewish Rabbis today have even developed a two Messiah theory. The suffering servant and the ruling King as being two separate Messiahs. Jesus is both! What did not see is that it would happen in two phases. When Jesus began His Galilean ministry He went into the synagogue as was His usual custom except now He was to begin the work God had called Him to. Let’s pick it up in the gospel of Luke.

16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written: 18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” 20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. 21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”  Luke 4: 18-21.

This is a pretty straight forward fulfillment of prophecy as Jesus points out that this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing. A prophecy was unfolding right there! Jesus was quoting from the prophet Isaiah in Ch. 61:1-2. However, Jesus stops at the comma and puts down the scroll before He finishes the verse? Let’s look at the rest of that prophecy in Isaiah.

The Good News of Salvation

61 “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,

Because the Lord has anointed Me

To preach good tidings to the poor;

He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,

To proclaim liberty to the captives,

And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord,

And the day of vengeance of our God;

Note in blue just above, And the day of vengeance of our God; That Jesus did not quote this. Why? It is a verse of prophecy about the second coming. That comma after the acceptable year of the LORD was His mission as the Lamb of God to buy us back to the God Almighty by living the perfect life and offering Himself as the perfect sacrifice to God. God sent His Son as the payment for you and me that Jesus should by us back from the curse of the law.

Why Study Prophecy Today

The majority of studying prophecy today is on the fact that God will have a day of vengeance. If you’re a Christian, you have asked Jesus into your heart as Lord and Savior. Ask Him to cleanse you from all your sins by asking for forgiveness. Repent which means to turn away from what you know is a sin. God who is rich in mercy will give you eternal life just by asking in faith that He (God) is who He says He is and is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. That means reading the bible, praying and yes finding a solid bible believing church. They are becoming hard to find. That is why you need to study and read the word of God daily. The second coming is not something out there for bible cooks, it is in the Lord’s prayer…”Thy kingdom come” He is coming again, and not just heaven He will be here stepping back into time in Jerusalem.
