Here, a sacrifice was made for the corporate sin of the nation. But Middle East historian and Israel’s current ambassador to the US, Michael Oren, says that a similar erosion of Christian populations in other countries in the region suggests the Palestinian narrative is simply not true, and that Israel is in fact the safest place in the Middle East for Christians today.

Purim Revealed The story of Purim is found in the Book of Esther. Apart from the name of the king, neither the main characters of the account nor the holiday itself are mentioned anywhere else in the Bible. The holiday of Purim is a man-made festival that originated out of the decrees of Mordecai and Queen Esther (Est. 9:29–32). Although Purim was founded in biblical times, it is not a holiday commanded by God, as are the holy convocations mentioned in Leviticus 23. In Gaza, Hamas controls a permanent population in a defined territory (i.e., Gaza within the armistice lines of 1949). Gaza has a functioning, if odious, government. And Hamas-controlled Gaza already conducts international relations with a large number of states.
