Uranus: Meet The Greek gods is part of our ongoing series looking at the impact of mythology on our culture. We will contrast the pantheon of Greek gods of the occult that pagans still pray to and the clues the bible gives the Christian as to the true nature of these gods. From the Tower of Babel & Nimrod we can see the early corruption of the gospel message given to Adam & Eve and the telling of Yahweh Gods plan He placed in the stars (Mazzaroth).

Long before men perverted the message of the constellations and established ancient idolatry, God named the stars and set them in the heavens for signs:

“And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years” (Genesis 1:14).

Uranus, the First Ruler of the Universe. Uranus was the first ruler of the Universe, the father of the main Titans and the Sky god.

Uranus was the first ruler of the Universe and the god of the Sky. Uranus was created by Gaea in order to surround and cover her, but soon he became her mate and together they produced the remaining twelve Titans, three Cyclopes and three Hecatoncheires, hundred handed creatures, which Uranus used to loathe.

The Castration of Uranus

Fearful of his children overthrowing him, Uranus pushed his children one by one back into the womb of his wife Gaea. Every time this happened, Gaea was suffering over the loss of children and feeling outraged by this injustice. Until one day, she decided to hand an unbreakable sickle to her son Cronus, the youngest, but boldest of Gaea’s children, giving him the order to castrate Uranus.

Cronus obeyed and at that night he hid himself in his parents’ bed; hence he managed to castrate his father while he was sleeping. The blood of Uranus then started splattering onto the earth, producing Erinyes (Furies), Giants, and Melian Nymphs. Afterwards, Cronus threw his father’s genitals into the sea of Paphos in Cyprus, around which foams developed, transforming slowly into Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of Love.

First we must recognize the relation of the heavens (Stars & Planets) in ancient cultures. Our everyday life calendar, days, months, planets & many constellations have pagan names… Pagan Origins

These can be traced all the way back to Nimrod at the Tower of Babel and the confusion that ensued. Anyone who knows their bible can see the perversions of the designed to mask the truth of the gospel. God alone is Creator of the Universe, (Genesis 1:1, Nehemiah 9:6, Revelation 4:11). So who is the “god of the sky?” Scriptures indicate this is none other than Satan. The adversary is described as …”the prince of the power of the air…” Ephesians 2:2 and the reason for his fall was in his pride he wanted to be “…like the Most High God…” Isaiah 14:14.

King Nebuchadnezzar, King of Babylon exalted himself in his pride. God showing us a type of the antichrist turned his heart into the heart of a beast. Daniel 4:24-33 Is not The Beast (AC) is likened unto an wild prophetic images of beasts. Satan has a plan and he wants to install himself as the ruler of this world. Revelation 13 & Daniel 7 God is sovereign over Creation and even wicked leaders which come to power. Scripture is full of God’s sovereignty and interest in civil government. In Daniel 2:20-21, God removes and sets up rulers. In Proverbs 21:1, he turns a ruler’s heart. In Romans 13:1, He ordains civil powers. Clearly, government is not a secular institution but a God-ordained institution. God will use these things to bring His people to Himself in repentance and faith towards God and judgement and wrath to those who reject His awesome gift of salvation. Greek Mythology is full of wild beasts and offspring with god like attributes.

Uranus is as legend and mythology has handed down a look at fallen angels bringing confusion to the true nature of God the Creator, and codifying the myths of the gods coming down and having sex with women. These events are recorded in Genesis 6 where the sons of God (bene ha-‘elohim, “sons of God” (Genesis 6:2,4; Job 1:6; 2:1) The offspring where giants before and after the flood! David & Goliath. Mythology has taken great artistic license to these ancient historical accounts of fallen angels and giants. Is it not odd that this is in the bible recorded before Noah’s flood, Jesus makes reference to this in Luke 17:26 and today there is a resurgence of movies & shows featuring comic book heroes with god like powers. A major deception is brewing and the answers are in the bible and the past. Truly there is nothing new under the sun. Ecclesiastes 1:9-10

The truth is strange indeed. We might even excuse this topic except the Lord Jesus said “And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.” Luke 17:26 So with that brief introduction I commend to you the scholarly work below on this strange subject.
