Assessment: Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) tweeted on the absurdity of it all, “Last week, Biden talked about being tough on crime. This week, the Biden Admin announced funds for crack pipe distribution to ‘advance racial equity.”
The Biden administration is planning on funding the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts in underserved communities in the name of “advancing racial equity” via a $30 million grant program that will be implemented by nonprofits and local governments.
The Washington Free Beacon is reporting that the practice is included in the Department of Health and Human Services’ fiscal year 2022 Harm Reduction Program Grant program. The program describes in a document the crack pipe distribution plan as the dispersion of federal government funds for “smoking kits/supplies.”
A spokesman told the media outlet that the grant money will supply addicts with safer crack pipes for smoking crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, or “any illicit substance.” The spokesperson also justified the move by claiming the pipes will reduce users’ chances of becoming infected which is common among crack addicts.
An HHS spokesman refused to say what is included in the smoking kits. Similar distribution efforts have reportedly provided mouthpieces to prevent glass cuts, rubber bands to prevent burns, and filters to minimize the risk of disease.
