JNS: Israel may have a right-wing prime minister, but Naftali Bennett is not positioning Israel’s diplomatic priorities. That portfolio rests with Foreign Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid, who is scheduled to take over the premiership as part of a rotation arrangement with Bennett in August 2023.

Bennett is busy micromanaging Israel’s COVID response, which includes constantly changing regulations and border closures.

With Bennett handling domestic issues, Lapid and other key coalition partners are laying the groundwork for Israel to return to a two-state paradigm that had been effectively frozen under the previous government. And in doing so, they are giving ammunition to parties and institutions that delegitimize Israeli land claims in the disputed territories of Judea and Samaria.

In a briefing with members of the media on Monday, Foreign Ministry Director-General Alon Ushpiz said: “In the coming year, we expect to see resolutions and processes with the potential to cause significant damage, and there is real danger an official U.N. body will determine Israel is an apartheid state.” Read More …

Israel's Gantz keeps eye on premiership - Al-Monitor: The Pulse of the Middle East

US President Joe Biden and his Jewish Secretary of State, Antony Blinken know that all they have to do is wait until 2023, when Lapid takes over from Bennett.

Let’s look at each of the three Israeli leaders:

  1. Naftali Bennett Israel’s current (religious) Prime Minister, from today’s JNS report

While Prime Minister Bennett says he is against a two-state solution, payments to the PA continue:

“Each year, the P.A. pays more than $350 million in ongoing monthly pensions to terrorists in Israeli prisons and the families of so-called “martyrs” who died in the act of attempting first-degree murder. The figures account for an estimated 7 percent of the P.A.’s total budget.

The loans, approved by Bennett, represent a dubious and highly controversial workaround of an Israeli law meant to ensure that the funds Israel transfers do not end up directly in the pockets of terrorists and their families.”

2. Yair Lapid Israel’s (secular) Alternate Prime Minister on the two state solution and left wing ideology:

Yair Lapid said Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2021,  that although he is a firm believer in the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it is currently unfeasible for both sides.

Lapid’s remarks came during a press conference in Jerusalem, three days after Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz met with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, the first high-level face-to-face meeting in years.

“It is not realistic to speak of peace negotiations in the current circumstances, and not only on this side of the border,” Lapid said.

Yair Lapid orders pride flag flown at Foreign Ministry

“For the first time ever, I ordered this morning that the pride flag be flown at the Foreign Ministry during Pride Month,” Lapid said Monday morning.

“The Foreign Ministry and its employees are bringing a message of tolerance, brotherhood, and freedom.”

3. General Benny Gantz: On December 29, 2021 Israeli Foreign Minister (secular) General Benny Gantz invited Mahmoud Abbas for dinner at the Gantz residence, astounding conservative Israelis. Since that dinner, Abbas, in Yasser Arafat fashion, has continued his typical hate Israel rhetoric.

January 1, 2022:

Peace partner? Abbas attacks Israel days after meeting Gantz

“Days after meeting Defense Minister Benny Gantz at his home in Rosh HaAyin, Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas launched a scathing attack on Israel on Friday, accusing it of “hideous policies of ethnic cleansing and organized terrorism.”

The PA chairman praised the terrorist prisoners held in Israeli prisons for their “sacrifices and patience,” stressing that the PA leadership will not abandon them or their families.”

The only one of the 4 men who remains steadfast in his ideology is the Edomite Abbas, who will turn all three Israeli leaders on their head when he demands the ”right of return” of 5 million (or more) Arab refugees from the 1948 War of Independence.

Abbas doesn’t know however, that the Sovereign Lord is the most steadfast:

“For violence against your brother Jacob,
Shame shall cover you,
And you shall be cut off forever.” Obadiah 1:10
