THE BOOK OF DANIEL is quoted often in the New Testament Book of Revelation. In many ways, the two books need to be read and studied together. Daniel lived at an important time of ancient history and his story is critical to our understanding of what is happening today. His visions speak powerfully of the end times, and his writing continues to exalt the “Most High God.” The accuracy and reliability of his remarks concerning future events have caused many to question his authorship of this book. However, we have complete confidence that he not only wrote the book but that God used him powerfully to bring His message to His people about what is about to happen in our time. Daniel Chapter 9 The 70th Week. vs. 27 A must see!
Daniel Chapter 9
Perhaps the most important prophecy of the bible. Daniel’s 70th week. This covers a future 7 year period comes right here. What is Daniel’s 70th week? Come n see.
Daniel Session 11 Ch 9 The 70th Week
The 70th Week
The Interval (Daniel 9:26)
26] And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
An interval, or gap, is clearly required by v. 26: events described are after the 69th and prior to the 70th week. “cut off”: tr;K’ karat, to cut off, eliminate, kill, execute; death penalty (Lev 7:20; Ps 37:9; Prov 2:22). “not for Himself”: nothingness: rejection, substitution. The people of “the prince that shall come” = historically, the Romans.
Thus, the Prince to come will be of the Roman Empire (but NOT necessarily from Europe!) Sanctuary destroyed, etc. 38 years are included with the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D. 70. Over 1970 years have transpired so far. “…flood”: diaspora. Titus Vespasian: 38 years later; (not 3½!). Daniel 9:26: Rabbinical Confirmations

The Destiny of Israel
The Missing Key of “Systematic” Theology
Divisions of Theology
• Bibliology The Bible
• Theology Proper Attributes of God
• Christology Lord Jesus Christ
• Pneumatology Holy Spirit
• Angelology Angels, fallen and unfallen
• Anthropology Man
• Soteriology Salvation
• Ecclesiology The Church
• Eschatology End-Times; Last Things
Notice what’s missing? Israelology = the study of Israel as an instrument in God’s program for man.
Israel and the Church
Distinctions: different origins, missions, destinies. “Replacement” views deny Israel her place in God’s program (Romans 9, 10, 11); it makes God a liar and laid the basis for Christian Anti-Semitism. The “70 Weeks” deal specifically with Israel. Also, Paul’s trichotomy: Jews, Gentiles, Church (1 Cor 10:32). Distinctives reappear after Revelation 4.
Historical Roots of Replacement TheologyBlindness Declared by The Creator
Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes. Luke 19:42
For How Long?
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the Fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:25
What is The Interval in Prophecy?
Interval also implied: Dan 9:26; Isa 61:1,2 (re: Lk 4:18-20); Rev 12:5,6. Also: Isa 54:7; Hos 3:4,5; Amos 9:10,11 (Acts 15:13-18); Micah 5:2,3; Zech 9:9,10; Lk 1:31,32; 21:24.
Scriptures for The Interval Defined
Interval defined: Luke 19:42 until Rom 11:25. This interval is the period of the Church, an era kept secret in Old Testament: Mt 13:34,35; Eph 3:5,9.
• Born at Pentecost: Col 1:18; 1 Cor 12:13; Acts 1:5, 11:15-16.
• Prerequisites: Atonement (Mt 16:18, 21); Resurrection (Eph 1:20-23); Ascension: (Eph 4:7-11—spiritual gifts only after ascension). [Interval implied in 24 references] “Israel” is never used of the Church (73X). Gal 6:16 is misunderstood, by ignoring the kai in the Greek which clearly distinguishes the two groups. It seems that the Lord deals with Israel and the Church mutually exclusively. [Example: Chess Clock]

The 70th Week Defined
27] And he (“the prince that shall come”) shall enforce the covenant with [the] many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The Covenant Enforced with “the many” : “The many” is an idiom for Israel. This is the “Covenant with Hell,” Isa 28:15; Zech 11:15-17 etc. “…midst of the week…” : The most documented period of time in the Bible. Time, times, and the dividing of time (Dan 7:25; 4:16, 23, 25).
Which “Prince”?
Antecedent: “The Prince that shall come…” After the death of Nero, General Galba was recalled to become Emperor. A conspiracy had him assassinated. After Galba, Ortho was made emperor; he was unfit and committed suicide. After the revolution and political instability, the general-in-command of the Roman-Israeli expedition was recalled to restore order and become Emperor: General Vespasian, father of Captain Titus who remained general in charge of the siege. Just a few days before the final assault on Jerusalem, Vespasian was crowned Emperor of the Roman Empire, making Titus a prince (Titus may have been a descendant of Antiochus IV).

• Solomon’s Temple? Autumn 1 Kings 8:2
• Zerubbabel’s Temple? Spring Ezra 6:15,16
• The Rededication Winter 25th of Kislev
The “Abomination of Desolation”
Antiochus IV (“Epiphanes”) 175-164 B.C.
Antiochus IV was the 8th king of the Syrian dynasty and infamous brother of Cleopatra. “Epiphanes” = “Illustrious.” [Called “Epimanes,” the madman.] He made Torah reading punishable by death; slaughtered a sow on the Altar and erected an idol to Zeus in the Holy of Holies; incited the Maccabbean Revolt, which succeeded in rededicating the Temple, 25th Kislev, 165 B.C. This is still commemorated at Hanukkah. (Authenticated by the Holy Spirit: Jn 10:22.) The sacrifices and oblations cease; 2 Thess 2:4. These require a Temple previously consecrated in Jerusalem. (Preparations have begun!)
The Great Tribulation & Gods Sovereign Purpose
For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Matthew 24:21,22
This “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” climaxes in the “Day of the Lord”: Isa 61:2; Zech 12, 14; Rev 19:19; et al. (Note that this is 3½ years, not 7, as is so often assumed.) Revelation 6 – 19 is essentially an elaboration of the events during the “70th Week” of Daniel 9.
The “Time of Jacob’s Trouble” (Jeremiah 30:7)
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Daniel 12:1

The Leader will be the Son of Satan, the “Seed of the Serpent”: Gen 3:15; Isa 27:1; Ezek 28:12-19; Rev 13. Some believe this leader will be a Jew: Ezek 21:25-27; 28:2-10 (of the circumcision); Dan 11:36, 37; Jn 5:43 (allos, not heteros: thus, a Jew, not a Gentile). He will be received by Israel (Jn 5:43; Ps 55); some believe he will be a Gentile, a Roman Prince, etc. Remember there are two players (Rev 13).
The First Beast (of 2)
And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly wound was healed. Revelation 13:11, 12
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. Revelation 13:14, 15
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six. Revelation 13:16-18

Many point to bar codes, insertable chips, etc. for implementation technology and controls; they overlook that it is His number and name that is the critical identity issue.

Post-Tribulation Problems
Denies the New Testament teaching of imminency; we are to expect Him at any moment. Requires the Church be on earth during the 70th Week; Israel and the Church are mutually exclusive (Dan 9:26). The Church would experience God’s Wrath; promised not to experience it (1 Thess 5:9; Rev 3:10). How can the Bride come with Him? Who will populate the Millennium? Who are in the “Sheep and Goat” Judgment of Matthew 25? How can the virgins of Matthew 25 buy oil without the Mark of the Beast?
Rapture Precedes the Tribulation
The 70th Week is defined by a covenant enforced by the Antichrist (Dan 9:27). The “Great Tribulation” = last half of 70th Week (Mt 24:15, 21). He can’t be revealed until after the Rapture (2 Thess 2:6-9).

• The Lampstands: identified as the Church (Rev 1:20); in heaven when John arrives (Rev 4:5).
• 24 Elders: identified as the Redeemed (Rev 5:9,10); worship before Lamb receives the Scroll; Tribulation begins when Scroll is unsealed; 70th Week detailed (Rev 6-19).
Doctrine of Imminency
Believers are taught to expect the Savior from heaven at any moment (Phil 3:20; Titus 2:13; Heb 9:28; 1 Thess 1:10; 4:18; 5:6; Rev 22:20); it expresses hope and a warm spirit of expectancy (1 Thess 1:10); and, should result in a victorious and purified life (1 Jn 3:2,3; cf. 1 Thess 4:15,17; 2 Thess 2:1; 1 Tim 6:14; Heb 10:37; Lk 19:13; 2 Thess 3:10-12; Jas 5:8). (See Imminency for a deeper look.)
What Is Imminency?Paul seemed to include himself among those who looked for Christ’s return ( 1 Thess 4:15,17; 2 Thess 2:1). Timothy was admonished to “keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Tim 6:14). Jewish converts were reminded that “yet a little while, and He that shall come will come, and will not tarry.” (Heb 10:37). The expectation of some were so strong that they had stopped work and had to be exhorted to return to their jobs (2 Thess 3:10-12) and have patience (James 5:8).

• Rapture-itis (Rapture paralysis): A uniquely American dementia. Just because the Church will not go through The Great Tribulation, why should we escape what most of the Body of Christ in most of the world for most of the past 2,000 years has had to endure?
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matthew 24:44

Recruited into senior management at the Ford Motor Company in Dearborn, Michigan, Chuck established the first international computer network in 1966. He left Ford to start his own company, a computer network firm that was subsequently acquired by Automatic Data Processing (listed on the New York Stock Exchange) to become its Network Services Division.
Returning to California, Chuck found himself consulting, organizing corporate development deals, serving on the board of directors at several firms, and specializing in the rescuing of financially troubled technology companies. He brought several companies out of Chapter 11 and into profitable operation. Chuck thrived on this type of work.
As Chuck notes, his day of reckoning came several years ago when — as the result of a merger — he found himself the chairman and a major shareholder of a small, publicly owned development company known as Phoenix Group International. The firm established an $8 billion joint venture with the Soviet Union to supply personal computers to their 143,000 schools. Due to several unforeseen circumstances, the venture failed. The Misslers lost everything, including their home, automobiles and insurance.
It was during this difficult time that Chuck turned to God and the Bible. As a child he developed an intense interest in the Bible; studying it became a favorite pastime. In the 1970s, while still in the corporate world, Chuck began leading weekly Bible studies at the 30,000-member Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, in California. He and Nancy established Koinonia House in 1973.
Greetings in Christ,
I would like to offer a link to a website that has completely opened my eyes up to the truth of Dan 9:27, as it is a prophecy of the coming Christ and NOT about antichrist, as most of us have been led to believe!! It is clear as day once the jesuit spectacles of “futurism” are removed! These studies reveal what the “little book” of Revelation 10 is along with the historical fulfillment of much of Revelation and Daniel 9.
This information needs to be shouted from the rooftops!:)
Peace & Truth unto the saints,

Tina, thanks for your comments… I hate to say it, but the historical fulfillment falls apart under scrutiny. I have heard this argument before. Let’s keep in mind the things listed by the prophet Daniel in Ch. 9 for the 70 weeks of prophecy. God said He would complete:
Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
Let’s make some observations… #1 it is for Daniels people (Jews) #2 thy holy city (Jerusalem) #3 to finish transgressions! Is that complete? I still see allot of transgressions with the Jews & Jerusalem. #4 end of sins? Nope.. Still allot of sinning. #5 make reconciliation… this is partially fulfilled. Jews will finally turn to Jesus during the 70th week when antichrist… The one whom your site promotes as Christ! (yikes) Read 1 & 2 Thessalonians. This is a deception itself. Maybe made by Jesuits? Do your own study and take all positions into account.
Also as usual on this site http://christianitybeliefs.org/end-times-deceptions was the idea that we have entered into the Tribulation in historical data. This is silly. The Seal Judgements & Trumpets. First if we do the math… it ends up half the world population is killed… today that would be over 3 billion souls. If it was historical, they all are dead now… Did half the world perish at any point in history? Sure there have been things in history that are similar. See Ecclesiastes 1:9,10
Try going through the notes and come to your own conclusions… God bless
Thanks for your response. It appears that based on the response that perhaps it was only quickly scanned and not thoroughly examined and compared with scripture. My hope is that truth will be persued more than opinions of man or what seems to be familiar. The end time / futurist theory was propogated by counter-reformation jesuits to cause protestants to look away from the papacy as antichrist to some future govt leader. This theory is completely demolished once the supposed red herring gap theory is rightly removed.
Jesus Fulfilled The Purposes Of Daniel 9:24 During The 70th Week Of Daniel
This 70th week of Daniel Bible study focuses on how Christ fulfilled all that was purposed in Daniel 9:24
The reason this is so important is that many Pastors teach that because the Jews didn’t accept Jesus as their Messiah, and because they did not fulfill God’s requirements in verse 24; then they must be given more time to do it, which they teach will happen during the supposed 7-year tribulation period.
Let’s look at the purposes for the 70th week of Daniel, to see that it’s impossible for the Jews, or anyone, to fulfill the demands.
You will see that only Messiah the Prince, the Lamb of God, could fulfill them; which invalidates Pastors argument that the Jews will do it.
Here’s the purposes of the 70th weeks of Daniel prophecy that are given in Daniel 9:24.
“Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.”
Before we go through these purposes to see how Christ fulfilled them, let’s look at the proper context.
Prior to this prophecy, the Israelites had failed to keep God’s commandments to them, which resulted in His punishing them:
Solomon worshiped the false gods of his foreign wives, which caused God to split the kingdom in two, the House of Israel and the House of Judah.
The northern House of Israel fell into worshiping the false gods of the Assyrians, so God caused the Assyrians to attack and scatter them.
The southern House of Judah (the Jews) fell into worshiping the false gods of the Babylonians, so God caused the Babylonians to kill those who resisted, and take captive those who cooperated. They were in captivity for 70 years, which is when the 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy was given.
Through all of these calamities, there was always a faithful remnant who believed in God by faith, such as Daniel and Isaiah.
But the majority sought to fulfill the law out of their flesh and they always failed, for “flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God” 1 Corinthians 15:50
So now God was giving the Jews 490 years to reconcile with Him and accept their coming Messiah.
God had punished them for 70 years, but His compassion caused Him to give them 490 years to reconcile with Him.
The simple context of the 70th week of Daniel is that the coming Messiah would offer salvation through the New Covenant to the House of Israel and the House of Judah.
“Behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.” Jeremiah 31:31
“The Deliverer will come out of Zion, And He will turn away ungodliness from Jacob; For this is My covenant with them, When I take away their sins.” Romans 11:26
Those who accepted Him as their Messiah, the true Israelites of God would be saved. They would be saved to eternal life, but they would also be saved when they escaped the desolation of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., fulfilling the prophecy “so all Israel will be saved.”
Those that rejected Him as their Messiah would be lost in their sins, and they would be desolated at the hands of the Roman army.
With the proper context in mind, let’s go through the purposes of the 70 weeks of Daniel prophecy.
To finish the transgression.
A remnant of Jews returned to rebuild the temple and the city, but a majority did not repent of their sins and stayed in Babylon even after they were set free.
During his ministry, most of them rejected Jesus as their promised Messiah.
In Jesus condemnation of the Jewish leaders He said, “Therefore you are witnesses against yourselves that you are sons of those who murdered the prophets. Fill up, then, the measure of your fathers’ guilt. Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?” Matthew 23:31-33
The ultimate transgression of the Hebrew people is expressed by Peter: “The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go. But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.” Acts 3:13-15
In what marked their final rejection of Jesus as their Messiah, the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem killed Stephen after he proclaimed, “You stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you. Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers, who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept it.” Acts 7:51-52
In Matthew 21:33-46 Jesus told the parable of the Wicked Vinedressers. In verse 43, Jesus told the Jews, “Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.”
This was fulfilled after the New Covenant was preached to the Jews for 7 years, then after Stephen was stoned to death, the message of the Gospel went to the nations (Gentiles).
Thus we see that the “thy people” of Daniel 9 24 included the very ones who were responsible for the death of their Messiah. The National transgression was complete.
Let’s now look at how Christ fulfilled the demand to finish the transgression.
Isaiah 53:5 foretold Jesus fulfillment, “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
“And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” Hebrews 9:15
To make an end of sins.
No man can stop sinning, so it’s impossible that the Jews could make an end of sins.
Let’s now look at how Christ made an end of sins.
“For the death that He died, He died to sin once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God.” Romans 6:10
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,” Romans 8:2-3
“For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.” Hebrews 9:26
“And every priest stands ministering daily and offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down at the right hand of God.” Hebrews 10:11-12
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.” 1 Peter 3:18
To make reconciliation for iniquity.
No man can make reconciliation for their sins, so this can’t apply to the Jews, only to our Savior.
“For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.” Romans 5:10-11
“Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” Hebrews 2:17
Reconciliation for iniquity was accomplished by the sacrificial death of Christ as the Lamb of God.
To bring in everlasting righteousness.
No man could ever bring in everlasting righteousness, so this can’t apply to the Jews, only to our Savior.
Everlasting righteousness was what our Lord manifested in His sinless life, and by His life, death, and resurrection, Christ has made everlasting righteousness available to all who accept it by faith.
“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God–and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.” 1 Corinthians 1:30
“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” 2 Corinthians 5:21
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12
“Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24
Is there any doubt that He ushered in everlasting righteousness?
To seal up the vision and prophecy.
Man cannot seal up the vision or prophecy, so this can’t apply to the Jews.
The Mosaic Law and covenant pointed to Jesus. He sealed them up, that is, he accomplished them, answered to them to a tittle; all things that were written in the law, the prophets, and the psalms, concerning the Messiah, were fulfilled in him.
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill.” Matthew 5:17
To anoint the Most Holy.
Only God can anoint the Most Holy. The returning Jews rebuilt the temple, but it was never anointed by God, the Ark of the Covenant was never placed there, and God’s presence didn’t fill the temple.
Jesus fulfilled this when He came in the flesh and our High Priest was anointed.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised.” Luke 4:18
“How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Acts 10:38
In summary: All six of these purposes were fulfilled during the 70th week of Daniel. Jesus has fulfilled everything that He commanded the Jews to do.
In the words of the Messiah, “it is finished” John 19:30
Tina, again thanks for your comments. Much of what you say is true. We disagree with your application with The Jews and Israel. This is a deep subject of which you and I are entrenched. Again I state, I have reviewed the ‘historical’ fulfillment and it leaves many scriptures and covenants that God made with Israel in the Abrahamic & Davidic Covenants. May I suggest a study that most people have never taken. Much of which we disagree is in this study. Hope it helps. And yes we use good hermeneutics and context.
I would ask is God done with Israel? Has the Church replaced her?
