The Signs of The Times
By Dave White
You may ask: “how did you know the rapture was fast approaching?” And how could you have been so confident that you would write a message for those who have been left behind? The simple answer was that bible prophecy was coming true so fast, that in order for history to continue the rapture had to happen! In the early 21st century many, many Christians were joyously expecting the Lords’ return.
There were a number of prophecies that literally were “coming alive” right before our very eyes.
Taken together, these signs were absolute proof of the infallibility of Gods’ word, and the certainty of things to come. They were:
The Parable of The Fig Tree
The regathering of the Jewish people in their ancient homeland, Israel.
The recapture of Jerusalem by Israel in 1967.
The development of a unified, counterfeit world religion.
The widespread use of computers and telecommunications worldwide.
The invention of the atomic and neutron bombs.
The early 21st Century development of geopolitical alliances.
The revival of Rome and The European union as a global power.
In addition, Jesus foretold in Matthew 24:
Now learn from the parable of the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth its leaves, you know that summer is near; so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that he is near, right at the door. Truly I say unto you, this generation will not pass away until all these things take place. (Matthew 24:32-34)
Jesus referred to these events as “merely the beginning of birthpangs” (verse 8), so that, coincidentally, they formed a clear warning that once the described events began to unfold the generation that witnessed the beginning of these events would still be around for its conclusion.
Also, like “birthpangs”, the events would begin coming together more and more rapidly, just like a mother giving birth; that is, more events will be happening and they will happen closer together in time the closer we are to its conclusion.
That is exactly what has occurred in the last decade of the 20th Century, and into the early 21st. And so, for those that were taking seriously the warning of our Lord and His holy word, there were no doubts where we were, and where we were going. Unfortunately, most people weren’t listening.
Let’s look at each event listed above in more detail, that taken together form the basis for believing that the “end of the world as we knew it” was near. Consider each as “birth pangs.
Read Matthew chapter 24
In Matthew 24:32-34 Jesus warned us that those alive to see the “re-birth” of Israel (1948) could be alive to see His return and the fulfillment of the prophetic plan of God.
