NOW this is the genealogy of Esau, who is Edom. Genesis 36:1

In this article, we will take a look at the twin brother of Jacob, Esau. Esau is Edom. There is a very peculiar fact the Holy Spirit placed in a prophecy in Daniel 11:41 where the activity of the Antichrist is in view here. We will look at the Islamic connection and Terrorism found in the prophets. Modern day Jordan controls the Temple mount site today as Herod who was descendant of Edom. Fascinating study. Today Jordan is made up mostly of Palestinians who are ruled by the Hashemite family. A nasty history like most of the world.

These peoples mentioned as Edom, Moab, and Ammon are collectively known as the modern nation of Jordan. Keep this in mind as we look at Esau.

King Herod The Edomite

1. King Herod was an Idumaean or Edomite (Esau). Herod the Great was also like Pharaoh guilty of infanticide when Jesus was born.

as the Prophet Jeremiah 31:15 prophesied. And was recorded in Matthew 2:16-18. “Massacre of the Innocents”

Edom = “red”

3) land of Edom, Idumea – land south and south-east of Palestine

Herod was in control of the temple mount area in the time of Jesus 1st coming. Today as we look at the temple mount it is the Jordanians who are the stewards of the Temple Mount site. Could it be that the same dynamic as Jesus first coming is a temple constructed by the Jordanians as Herod was Rome’s vassal King? Could it also be that the Antichrist will use Jordan as the key player to betray Israel by extending the olive branch of permission to build on the temple mount today? Herod built the temple of Jesus day to appease the Jews. Could it be that the Antichrist will broker a deal that allows the Jews to build a temple, guarantee Israel’s security, and divide Jerusalem for gain…Could it be this is why the Antichrist allows Edom, Ammon, and Moab to escape out of his hand…Because Israel will be told to flee to Petra in Jordan!

Interestingly we have heard that the Jews and I heard via radio that the Jordanians may allow a sacrifice on the Temple Mount in 09. I can’t find anything in print on that yet, but it is a very interesting development if indeed true.

Modern day Edom is what we call Jordan.

Who [is] this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this [that is] glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. BLB (KJV) Isa 63:1 This verse in Isaiah is strikingly similar to Revelation 14:19,20 and when Christ comes back with His armies He still has blood-stained garments. What is going on here? In Revelation 14:20 the blood that comes our of the wine press of the city (Jerusalem) is a thousand and six hundred furlongs. where we can tell from Isaiah 63 that this event before the Antichrist armies is vanquished. “And the wine press was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the wine press, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs”
(Revelation 14:20).

The “city” (Rev. 14:20) undoubtedly refers to Jerusalem, for it and its Godly inhabitants will again make it the “apple of [Jehovah’s] eye” (Lamentations 2:18). “And give Him no rest, till He establish, and till He make Jerusalem a praise in the Earth” (Isaiah 62:7). The “blood of the grapes” (Genesis 49:11) has figuratively described the pressed juice of the grapes, but here it actually describes the blood of formerly living human beings, who have been slain in the judgments surrounding the Second Coming of the LORD Jesus Christ. “I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me: for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment” (Isaiah 63:3). The LORD God has never taken pleasure in the death of the wicked. “Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 33:11).

However, at this time (14:20), the death of the wicked will purge humanity of sin; and, the Almighty will defend the purity and integrity of the City or the Great House that He has invited all men to dwell in– which invitation, only His children have accepted. “24 Therefore whosoever heareth these Sayings of Mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of Mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell: and great was the fall of it” (Matthew 7:24-27). Blood will come out of the winepress “even unto the horse bridles” (14:20). Some speculate that the blood of slain men at Armageddon will yield a flow of blood deep enough to come up to the bridle of a horse, while others conjecture that it represents only a liberal splattering of blood. However the LORD brings His Word to pass, we are assured that the life of humanity will be liberally dissipated in this Judgment, for the “life of the flesh is in the blood” (Leviticus 17:11).

A Thousand and Six Hundred Furlongs

A “thousand and six hundred furlongs” (14:20) is the distance in which the blood will flow “unto the horse bridles” (14:20). A furlong, according to “Easton’s Bible Dictionary” (1897), is “a stadium, a Greek measure of distance equal to 606 feet and 9 inches [or, 606.75 feet]”. 1,600 furlongs would then be the equivalent of 183.86 miles. What do we believe to be the manner of the LORD Jesus Christ’s Second Coming?

Jesus Chases Enemies Bozrah to Megiddo

(1) Christ will descend to the Mount of Olives, just as He previously ascended from it. “11 Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into Heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into Heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen Him go into Heaven. 12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a Sabbath day’s journey [i.e., approximately 2,250 feet, or less than half a mile]” (Acts 1:11-12). “3 Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when He fought in the day of battle. 4 And His feet shall stand in that day upon the Mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south” (Zechariah 14:3-4).

(2) Christ will then pursue His enemies, slaying them, down to Bozrah. Bozrah lies approximately 18 miles southeast of the Dead Sea in the mountain district of Petra, according to the “Davis Dictionary of the Bible”, and it is approximately 58 miles southeast of the Mount of Olives. “6 The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, it is made fat with fatness, and with the blood of lambs and goats, with the fat of the kidneys of rams: for the LORD hath a sacrifice in Bozrah and a great slaughter in the land of Idumea. 7 And the unicorns shall come down with them, and the bullocks with the bulls; and their land shall be soaked with blood, and their dust made fat with fatness” (Isaiah 34:6-7). And,

(3) Christ will then continue His pursuit and slaying of His enemies from Bozrah to Megiddo– Megiddo being the ancient city close by the final conflict at Armageddon– traveling approximately another 128 miles. “1 Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in His apparel, traveling in the greatness of His strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. 2 Wherefore art Thou red in Thine apparel and Thy garments like Him that treadeth in the winefat? 3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with Me: for I will tread them in Mine anger, and trample them in My fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon My garments, and I will stain all My raiment. 4 For the day of vengeance is in Mine heart, and the year of My redeemed is come. 5 And I looked, and there was none to help; and I wondered that there was none to uphold: therefore Mine own arm brought Salvation unto Me; and My fury, it upheld Me. 6 And I will tread down the people in Mine anger, and make them drunk in My fury, and I will bring down their strength to the Earth” (Isaiah 63:1-6). Combining the distances from the Mount of Olives to Bozrah of 58 miles with the distance from Bozrah to Megiddo of 128 miles, is a distance of 186 miles, which is approximately the same as 1,600 furlongs (14:20).

The Coming False Peace Deal

Jordan today is at peace with Israel since leading several campaigns against them since 1948. After being crushed 3 times with the other Arab nations they made peace with Israel on October 26, 1994. According to Islam, you don’t make peace like the western mind thinks peace. See False Peace Beast article for more depth. Today much of so-called peace deals with Muslims is a Hudna. It actually is designed to stop fighting until they are strong enough to continue the fight. Is it any wonder over their with all the fighting for thousands of years!

“What is being touted as a ‘cease-fire’ is something called a ‘hudna.’ A hudna [also known as a hudibiyya or khudaibiya] is a tactical cease-fire that allows the Arabs to rebuild their terrorist infrastructure in order to be more effective when the “cease-fire” is called off.”

…[Arafat] likened the Oslo accords, once again, to the 10-year truce made by the prophet Muhammad in A.D. 628 with the Arabian tribe of Quraysh. The Islamic forces used the peace to become stronger over a couple of years, then defeated the Quraysh tribe. The parallel re-emphasizes that Arafat sees Oslo not as a pledge to work for a permanent reconciliation between Arabs and Israelis but as a temporary and tactical maneuver. Why else have thousands paraded in Gaza with signs saying “We worship Allah by killing Jews”?

Amos & Terror connection

The prophet Amos describes a vision of sending fire into Damascus (Hezzbolah), Gaza (Hamas), Tyrus (Lebanon), Edom and the nations that are collectively Jordan today. Why this judgement… This is because all these other nations delivered Israel to Edom. See Amos 1 vs. 6, 9, 11… Amos 1 Look at the map of these nations it is easy to see if they attack that Israel would either be pushed into the sea or flee to Petra in Jordan.

Fascinating that these cities today are all hotbeds of terrorist activity that will play a part in the ultimate betrayal of Israel to Esau who is in Jordan. Recall that Israel is to be at peace. Daniel 9:27

The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom; We have heard a rumour from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the heathen, Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle. Behold, I have made thee small among the heathen: thou art greatly despised. The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation [is] high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground Though thou exalt [thyself] as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD….All the men of thy confederacy have brought thee [even] to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have deceived thee, [and] prevailed against thee; [they that eat] thy bread have laid a wound under thee: [there is] none understanding in him. Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, even destroy the wise [men] out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau? And thy mighty [men], O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one of the mount of Esau may be cut off by slaughter. For [thy] violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever. Obadiah 1:1-10

Herod In View

During the first coming of Jesus, it was Herod who was appointed by Roman authority to rule over the Jew’s. He was and Idumean (descendant of Esau). Today as we look forward to the second coming of Christ it is Jordan who controls the temple mount.

The same day there came certain of the Pharisees, saying unto him, Get thee out, and depart hence: for Herod will kill thee. And he said unto them, Go ye, and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and I do cures to day and to morrow, and the third [day] I shall be perfected. Luke 13

Grapes of wrath? Seems like it. How terrible it will be for this time!

If grapegatherers come to thee, would they not leave [some] gleaning grapes? if thieves by night, they will destroy till they have enough. But I have made Esau bare, I have uncovered his secret places, and he shall not be able to hide himself: his seed is spoiled, and his brethren, and his neighbours, and he [is] not. vs. 9-10.

For thus saith the LORD; Behold, they whose judgment [was] not to drink of the cup have assuredly drunken; and [art] thou he [that] shall altogether go unpunished? thou shalt not go unpunished, but thou shalt surely drink [of it]. For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes. vs. 12-13.

Why This Wrath?

Because thou hast had a perpetual hatred, and hast shed [the blood of] the children of Israel by the force of the sword in the time of their calamity, in the time [that their] iniquity [had] an end:Therefore, [as] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I will prepare thee unto blood, and blood shall pursue thee: since thou hast not hated blood, even blood shall pursue thee. Ezekiel 35:5-6

Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, set thy face against mount Seir, and prophesy against it, And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O mount Seir, I [am] against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most desolate. Tawḥīd (Arabic: توحيد; also transliterated Tawheed and Tauheed; Turkish: Tevhid) is the Islamic conception of monotheism. Tawhid refers to the act of believing and affirming that God (Arabic: Allah) is one and unique (wāḥid). In Islam, recognition of this principle is achieved by the first of five pillars of Islam, the Shahadah (testification of faith). The opposite of Tawhīd is Shirk (polytheism), which means “associating partners” or “making something as comparable” (to God) in Arabic, referring to idolatry.[1]

Shirk (Arabic: شرك‎) is the Islamic concept of the sin of polytheism specifically, but in a more general way refers to worshipping other than Allah, associating partners with him, giving his characteristics to other than him, or not believing in his characteristics. Within Islam, shirk is not a forgivable sin, and Moslems consider that anyone who dies subject to this sin with it will never see paradise. It is th e vice that is opposed to the virtue of tawhid, literally “declaring [that which is] one”, often translated into the English term “monotheism.”

The Avenger of Blood in The Bible

	Lest the avenger of the blood pursue the slayer, while his heart is hot, and overtake him, because the way is long, and slay him; whereas he [was] not worthy of death, inasmuch as he hated him not in time past. Deuteronomy 19:6
	Then the elders of his city shall send and fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the avenger of blood, that he may die. Deuteronomy 19:12
	That the slayer that killeth [any] person unawares [and] unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood. Joshua 20:3

For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her. For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife….And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison. In 42 BC, he convinced Mark Antony and Octavian that his father had been forced to help Caesar’s murderers. Herod was then named tetrarch of Galilee by the Romans. However, many of the Jews were very upset by this since most Jews did not consider Herod to be a true Jew. The Idumaean family, successors to the Edomites of the Hebrew Bible, settled in Idumea, formerly known as Edom, in southern Judea.

And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these [were] the sons of Adah Esau’s wife. Genesis 36:14

Bozrah the Sheep Pen of the Messiah

The Location of the Coming of the Messiah According to the Hebrew Scriptures

The purpose of this study is to show where the Second Coming of the Messiah will take place. This subject is often misunderstood by even the most noted scholars. There is much confusion concerning the timing of the Second Coming and the Rapture of the Church, and the term Battle of Armageddon is also an event that is often misunderstood. This will detail the scriptures indicating the return of the Jewish Messiah, Yeshua (Hebrew for Jesus).

The main error about the Valley of Armageddon is that it is incorrectly named. From the Hebrew Har-Meggido or Mount Meggido. Megiddo is an ancient city near the Valley of Jezreel. There is no battle here only a gathering of the Gentile armies of the Anti-Messiah against the nation of Israel. This gathering is very much like the gathering of the Allied Forces in Ryad, Saudi-Arabia in Operation Desert Storm 1 in the early 1990’s. Bozrah is not the same Bosera in southern Iraq. (Both meaning sheep pen but are different locations.)

The armies are gathered, and Israel will learn of the passage:

Matthew 24:15-16, “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.”

They heed this prophesy and flee to the mountainous wilderness in Southern Jordan (Edom) to a city called Bozrah. Bozrah is an Old Testament city in Edom whose name translates as sheep pen. The city that closely resembles a sheep pen in Southern Jordan is the ancient Roman city called Petra. A rock fortress that is highly defendable with the surrounding mountains. The remnant of Israel flees Jerusalem as foretold in Isaiah.

The allure of the Nabatean city of Petra in Jordan tempted young Israelis to sneak across the border for a visit in the 1950s and 1960s, some loosing with their lives for the attempt. Several were killed by Bedouin Nomads or Jordanian Military. There was no peace with Jordan at the time. The Hebrew song Ha-Selah Ha-Adom, the Red Rock, referring to mysterious Petra, was even banned from the radio for a time for fear that it would incite young men to make the hazardous journey. Today, this monument marks the place of their attempted crossing. Perhaps during the Great Tribulation, the monument will mark the way to Petra for the Jews of Jerusalem who will flee from the advancing armies of the antichrist.

Isaiah 33:16-17 “He will dwell on high; His place of defense will be the fortress of rocks; Bread will be given him, His water will be sure. Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will see the land that is very far off.”

The LORD will provide for the remnant just as He did for the Israelites during the Exodus from Egypt. A clear passage of the remnants gathering as prophesied by Micah.

Micah 2:12-13 “I will surely assemble all of you, O Jacob, I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together (in Bozrah) like sheep of the fold, Like a flock in the midst of their pasture; They shall make a loud noise because of so many people. The one who breaks open will come up before them; They will break out, Pass through the gate, And go out by it; Their king will pass before them, With the LORD at their head.”

One way in and one way out of the city.

The term sheep of the fold is the Hebrew name for the city of Bozrah. The phrase should read …I will put them together in Bozrah… when a city is not well known the translators often usually translate the meaning of the name instead of the name itself. For example, Jerusalem is well known and is usually never “the city of peace” which is what the name translates. The passage that clearly shows the battle which is to take place is clearly written in Isaiah 34:6 ” The sword of the LORD is filled with blood, It is made overflowing with fatness, With the blood of lambs and goats, With the fat of the kidneys of rams. For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.”

Judgment on the Nations

The LORD’s Wrath upon the Nations
1 Come near, you nations, to hear;
And heed, you people!
Let the earth hear, and all that is in it,
The world and all things that come forth from it.
2For the indignation of the LORD is against all nations,
And His fury against all their armies;
He has utterly destroyed them,
He has given them over to the slaughter.
3Also their slain shall be thrown out;
Their stench shall rise from their corpses,
And the mountains shall be melted with their blood.
4All the host of heaven shall be dissolved,
And the heavens shall be rolled up like a scroll;
All their host shall fall down
As the leaf falls from the vine,
And as fruit falling from a fig tree.

5“For My sword shall be bathed in heaven;
Indeed it shall come down on Edom,
And on the people of My curse, for judgment.
6The sword of the LORD is filled with blood,
It is made overflowing with fatness,
With the blood of lambs and goats,
With the fat of the kidneys of rams.
For the LORD has a sacrifice in Bozrah,
And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.
7The wild oxen shall come down with them,
And the young bulls with the mighty bulls;
Their land shall be soaked with blood,

The year of recompense for the cause of Zion.

11Indeed the LORD has proclaimed

“Surely your salvation is coming;
Behold, His reward is with Him,
And His work before Him.”‘

The Redeemed of the LORD;
And you shall be called Sought Out,
A City Not Forsaken.

Isaiah 63

1 Who is this who comes from Edom,
With dyed garments from Bozrah,
This One who is glorious in His apparel,
Traveling in the greatness of His strength?–

“I who speak in righteousness, mighty to save.”

2Why is Your apparel red,
And Your garments like one who treads in the winepress?

3″I have trodden the winepress alone,
And from the peoples no one was with Me.
For I have trodden them in My anger,
And trampled them in My fury;
Their blood is sprinkled upon My garments,
And I have stained all My robes.
4For the day of vengeance is in My heart,
And the year of My redeemed has come.

“Who could this be? Only the Messianic Person, the only one who is capable to save. The garments are dyed with blood, and not His blood. The blood is from the war with the armies of the Anti-Messiah who have chased the Jewish people from Jerusalem to Bozrah or Petra. The following passage is often thought to be the Messiah’s blood, but it is clear that the Messiah was given glorified clothing at the resurrection.

Revelation 19:11-13 Now I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse. And He who sat on him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness, He judges and makes war. His eyes were like a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns. He had a name written that no one knew except Himself. He was clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God.

Something happens in this city to cause such judgment that it will like that of Babylon a perpetual wasteland. Jeremiah 49:13-16 “For I have sworn by Myself,” says the LORD, “that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse. And all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.” I have heard a message from the LORD, And an ambassador has been sent to the nations: “Gather together, come against her, And rise up to battle! “For indeed, I will make you small among nations, Despised among men. Your fierceness has deceived you, The pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Who hold the height of the hill! Though you make your nest as high as the eagle, I will bring you down from there,” says the LORD.

Jeremiah 49:22 Behold, He shall come up and fly like the eagle, And spread His wings over Bozrah; The heart of the mighty men of Edom in that day shall be Like the heart of a woman in birth pangs.

These passages collectively show that something takes place at the Second Coming of the Messiah. The initial return will not be in Armageddon, or on the Mount of Olives. A summary sequence of the events are as follows:

At the close of the tribulation, all Gentile nations gather in the Valley of Jezreel near the Mountain of Megiddo.
The Jewish remnant will flee Jerusalem and run south because the armies of the Anti-Messiah are in the north in Meggido.
They will flee the land of Israel and somehow end up in Southern Jordan (Edom) in the city of Petra or ancient Bozrah.
Out of desperation, the Jewish remnant will call upon the Messiah while in Petra or Bozrah. They will say; “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD.” All of Israel will be Saved (Romans 11).
The Messiah will return with the great sacrifice of the Gentile armies in Bozrah. Bozrah will be made into a total burning wasteland throughout the millennial kingdom.
The Sword of the Lord will smite the Gentile Armies until there is blood up to the horse’s neck for 200 miles back to Jerusalem.
The movement will be northward to Jerusalem where He will make the victory ascent to the Mount of Olives.
There will be a gathering of all surviving Gentiles where the Messiah will divide them according to their helping Jesus’ brethren the Jews. The pro-Semitic sheep Gentiles will be allowed into the Kingdom and the anti-Semitic goat gentiles go into everlasting punishment.
The Davidic throne will be established in Jerusalem and the earth will be renovated for the Messianic Kingdom that will last one thousand years.

Bozrah is the locations of Messiah’s initial Second Coming in Petra, Jordan

Messiah will then make His way to Jerusalem to the Mount of Olives, then to the Temple Mount.

Sela (from Se’lah, rock) was the capital of Edom, situated in the great valley extending from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea (2 Kings 14:7). It was near Mount Hor, close by the desert of Zin. It is called “the rock” (Judg. 1:36). When Amaziah took it he called it Joktheel (q.v.) It is mentioned by the prophets (Isa. 16:1; Obad. 1:3) as doomed to destruction.

Sela is identified with the ruins of Sela, east to Tafileh in Jordan (identified as biblical Tophel) and near Bostra, all Edomite cities in the mount of Edom.

Old Sela

Sela appears in later history and in the Vulgate Version of the Bible under the name of Petra. “The caravans from all ages, from the interior of Arabia and from the Gulf of Persia, from Hadramaut on the ocean, and even from Sabea or Yemen, appear to have pointed to Petra as a common centre; and from Petra the tide seems again to have branched out in every direction, to Egypt, Palestine, and Syria, through Arsinoe, Gaza, Tyre, Jerusalem, and Damascus, and by other routes, terminating at the Mediterranean.” (See Edom [2].)
