The Borders of Wickedness Malachi 1 14 Obadiah Edom is Esau Audio DownloadToday many who are in Church do not realize the importance that Israel and Jerusalem will play in Gods ultimate plan for the nations and yes Israel.  God is not done with Israel.  So why has it become such an international issue to so many as the prophet Zechariah 12 spoke of.  Today the President of the USA will press again the issue of dividing the land God has given to Israel with to the Palestinians.  The Palestinians are the ancient people the Edomites and this is the ancient hatred Ezekiel 35:5 and this is the issue which God will enter into judgement Joel 3:2 with all the nations who come against Israel for the purpose of dividing the land.  Let’s look at Edom who is Esau a little closer.

The issue of the Palestinians is complicated for sure.  They are without a doubt oppressed but not in the way that the press portrays, but thats another story of the sad tale of a political pawn of the nations to fight against Israel.  I don’t want to minimize that issue.  What is even more wicked is the way the culture of the Islamic nations to villainies Israel and pressure her to give up land for peace which they (Muslims) cannot according to Islam EVER have with Israel.  They want to “wipe Israel off the map.”  Insane huh!

A working definition of insanity is the doing the same thing over and expecting different results.  So Israel should give up more strategic land that Jihadist can bring their rockets closer like every other time Israel gave up land like Gaza!

Update on UN & Obama to Pass Another Anti Israel Resolution

“…70 nations that gathered in Paris for a conference on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict unanimously agreed to call for the creation of a Palestinian state.
The joint declaration that was issued at the conclusion of the conference also endorsed UN Security Council Resolution 2334 which was adopted on December 23rd and the six principles that U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry laid out in his 71 minute speech on December 28th.
The good news is that this conference did not immediately recognize a Palestinian state, nor does it appear that additional action will be taken at the UN Security Council”  -Paris UN Security Council Resolution 2334

What Does The Bible Say About Dividing Jerusalem?

Borders of wickedness

Whereas Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath indignation for ever.  Malachi 1:4

So who is Edom?

What do Esau, Obadiah, Edom and the Palestinian Arabs have in common?  Keep reading to see for yourself.

The Book of Obadiah is only 21 verses long, but contains a prophecy that pertains to today. This book is about the persecution of the Jewish people, the land G-D promised to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.

1 THE VISION of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord GOD concerning Edom: We have heard a message from the LORD, and an ambassador is sent among the nations: ‘Arise ye, and let us rise up against her in battle.’ 2 Behold, I make thee small among the nations; thou art greatly despised.

3 The pride of thy heart hath beguiled thee, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, thy habitation on high; that sayest in thy heart: ‘Who shall bring me down to the ground?’

4 Though thou make thy nest as high as the eagle, and though thou set it among the stars, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.

5 If thieves came to thee, if robbers by night–how art thou cut off!–would they not steal till they had enough? If grape-gatherers came to thee, would they not leave some gleaning grapes?

6 How is Esau searched out! How are his hidden places sought out!

7 All the men of thy confederacy have conducted thee to the border; the men that were at peace with thee have beguiled thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread lay a snare under thee, in whom there is no discernment.

8 Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and discernment out of the mount of Esau?

9 And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.

10 For the violence done to thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.

11 In the day that thou didst stand aloof, in the day that strangers carried away his substance, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

12 But thou shouldest not have gazed on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

13 Thou shouldest not have entered into the gate of My people in the day of their calamity; yea, thou shouldest not have gazed on their affliction in the day of their calamity, nor have laid hands on their substance in the day of their calamity.

14 Neither shouldest thou have stood in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; neither shouldest thou have delivered up those of his that did remain in the day of distress.

15 For the day of the LORD is near upon all the nations; as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee; thy dealing shall return upon thine own head.

16 For as ye have drunk upon My holy mountain, so shall all the nations drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and swallow down, and shall be as though they had not been.

17 But in mount Zion there shall be those that escape, and it shall be holy; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken.

19 And they of the South shall possess the mount of Esau, and they of the Lowland the Philistines; and they shall possess the field of Ephraim, and the field of Samaria; and Benjamin shall possess Gilead.

20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel, that are among the Canaanites, even unto Zarephath, and the captivity of Jerusalem, that is in Sepharad, shall possess the cities of the South.

21 And saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’S.

Obadiah is a formal indictment against Edom and its allies.  Some Bible prophecies were given for the near-term, others are for the long term. Obadiah looks at Edom from beginning to end in a glance. The abuses accumulate throughout history, and end with the establishment of G-D’S rule on earth. It is a broad perspective ranging from the destruction of the First Temple to the end of days.

Who is Edom today? The ancient Edomites were the descendants of Edom, or Esau. The area known as Edom eventually became known as Idumea.

King Herod was an Idumean, or Edomite, puppet king who was installed by the Romans. Edom — or Idumea, bordered what is today the West Bank.

Genesis 25 tells the story of Esau trading his birthright, as Isaac’s eldest son, to Jacob, his younger twin brother.

25 And the first came forth ruddy, all over like a hairy mantle; and they called his name Esau.

26 And after that came forth his brother, and his hand had hold on Esau’s heel; and his name was called Jacob.   And Isaac was threescore years old when she bore them.

27 And the boys grew; and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents.

28 Now Isaac loved Esau, because he did eat of his venison; and Rebekah loved Jacob.

29 And Jacob sod pottage; and Esau came in from the field, and he was faint.

30 And Esau said to Jacob: ‘Let me swallow, I pray thee, some of this red, red pottage; for I am faint.’ Therefore was his name called Edom.

31 And Jacob said: ‘Sell me first thy birthright.’ 3

2 And Esau said: ‘Behold, I am at the point to die; and what profit shall the birthright do to me?’ 33 And Jacob said: ‘Swear to me first’; and he swore unto him; and he sold his birthright unto Jacob.

34 And Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentils; and he did eat and drink, and rose up, and went his way. So Esau despised his birthright.

Ezekiel identifies the modern Edomites in Ezekiel 36:5.

“5 therefore thus saith the Lord GOD: Surely in the fire of My jealousy have I spoken against the residue of the nations, and against all Edom, that have appointed My land unto themselves for a possession with the joy of all their heart, with disdain of soul, to cast it out for a prey; ” (JPS)

EDOM: It was called the land, or “the mountain of Seir,” the rough hills on the east side of the Arabah. It extended from the head of the Gulf of Akabah to the foot of the Dead Sea (1Ki 9:26  And king Solomon made a navy of ships in Ezion-geber, which is beside Eloth, on the shore of the Red Sea, in the land of Edom.)
Let’s take another look at what the verse is saying. “Your mighty allies in the south (the Saudis?) will be neutralized, and those who try to keep possession of al Aqsa will be slaughtered.”In verses 8-9 , Obadiah writes: Shall I not in that day, saith the LORD, destroy the wise men out of Edom, and discernment out of the mount of Esau? And thy mighty men, O Teman, shall be dismayed, to the end that every one may be cut off from the mount of Esau by slaughter.

Wahhabiism is the overwhelming Islamic branch  in Saudi Arabia and the Palestinian Arab occupied Israel (West Bank and Gaza).  These, plus Europe, are the only places where Wahhabiism is in the majority.

Verse 10 accuses Edom  “For the violence done to thy brother Jacob, shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.” This is not an isolated incident of violence, but systematic, repetitive, unrelenting violence. Jacob’s descendents are modern Israel.

Verse 12 indicts Edom for celebrating Israel’s catastrophes; “But look not thou on the day of thy brother in the day of his disaster, and rejoice not over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither speak proudly in the day of distress.

Compare that verse to images of chanting crowds of Palestinians dancing for joy at the news of a new bombing attack against Israeli civilians. Or the cheering crowds that celebrated Saddam’s missile attacks on Israel during the 1991 Gulf War.

Verse 13 condemns Edom for ‘entering the gates of my people’.

Enter not into the gate of my people in the day of their calamity; yea, look not thou on their affliction in the day of their calamity, neither lay ye hands on their substance in the day of their calamity.

When the British Mandate ended in 1948, the Arabs immediately seized the Old City of Jerusalem.

It took until 1967 for the Jews to re-take the city. They still have no control over the Jewish Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount, remain at the heart of the Arab-Israeli conflict, as G-D said they would.

Verse 14 says, “And stand thou not in the crossway, to cut off those of his that escape; and deliver not up those of his that remain in the day of distress.

When did the Palestinians serve as accomplices of the agents of death by not allowing Jews to come to their place of refuge?

When didn’t they?

The Arab riots of the late 1930’s caused the British to restrict Jewish immigration Palestine while the Holocaust was raging in Europe. Had it not been for Arab rioting and violence, the British would not have enacted those policies. Therefore, Edom was responsible for “killing those who tried to escape.”

The Nazis were the hatchet men, but the Palestinians were accessories and accomplices. Palestinian leader Haj Amin al-Husseini, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem during the Nazi era, played a major role in the Holocaust.

For a far more extensive series on the grand mufti, visit

al-Husseini lived in Berlin during the war years. He worked closely with Hitler to help achieve the Nazi Final Solution to the Jewish Question. He even personally recruited Bosnian Muslims who formed a whole division of the Nazi Waffen SS.

While Jewish immigration was tightly restricted during the Nazi era, Arabs were under no immigration limits. Arabs flooded into the Holy Land to help the British keep out the Jews.

Verse 21 says that, in the last days, “Saviours shall come up on mount Zion to judge the mount of Esau; and the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.”

The mount of Esau upon the mount of Zion can only refer to the al-Aqsa Mosque on the Temple Mount. And completing Obadiah’s identification of Edom as the Palestinian people is his mention of the emblem of the Palestinian Authority.

“Though thou exalt thyself as the eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars, thence will I bring thee down, saith the LORD.”

The PA’s official emblem is the eagle.

hamas1But how strong a case does Obadiah make for ‘Edom’ being representative of the modern Palestinian people? The word rendered in English as ‘violence’ in verse 10 is translated from the Hebrew word ‘chamac.’

From the Strong Concordance:

2554 chamac khaw-mas’ a primitive root; to be violent; by implication, to maltreat:–make bare, shake off, violate, do violence, take away violently, wrong, imagine wrongfully.

2555 chamac khaw-mawce’ from 2554 ; violence; by implication, wrong; by meton. unjust gain:–cruel(-ty), damage, false, injustice, X oppressor, unrighteous, violence (against, done), violent (dealing), wrong.

‘Chamac’ translated into modern Hebrew, is pronounced, ‘Hamas’.
