How to Counsel God’s Way with The Holy Spirit

A word from Amos37. Pastor Bob Hoekstra has been used by God mightily in my life and countless others with his gentle yet straightforward teachings. The passage of scripture that comes to mind is in Ephesians 4:29-30: “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” Psychology is not how God intended to counsel. How to Counsel God’s Way: The Ministry of The Holy Spirit and Discipleship

I have gone through this material twice, and it is by far the best study on comparing man-centered theology and the ministry of the Holy Spirit.  The Psychologizing of the faith has buried itself so deep within many well-meaning churches and ministries. It bears time to compare the teachings of the origins of psychology and the ministry.  We will attach some other helps. The late Pastor Bob Hoekstra gives Church Leaders the tools and discernment to bypass man’s attempt to counsel and use the ministry of God’s Word and the Holy Spirit to minister.

A tragic, growing crisis is facing the Lord’s church concerning the ministry of counseling. An increasing number of churches and church leaders are forsaking God’s way of counseling and turning to man’s ways. They are relying more on psychological theories and less on the word of God. They are turning to the “experts” of the world instead of to the family of God. Counseling God’s Way is a call for God’s people to return to Jesus as our Wonderful Counselor, so that we may avoid the pitfalls of following after man’s wisdom, and trust the Lord Jesus for His infinite, reliable riches that are ours in Christ. -Bob Hoekstra
