While researching various groups and sects that promote “Another Jesus”, I recalled that I had seen General Mike Flynn quote verbatim in a prayer gathering for America. Cool, right, but he was quoting or channeling Elizabeth Clare Prophet! Just below in a video. In this article, I want to try to put together some pieces of Alice Bailey’s dream to use the Church as a John the Baptist for the New Age. Ohhh, and they have come a long way! So my purpose is to demonstrate cults’ use of “Christianese,” familiar words to Christians, but laced with the deadly error of Religious deception.
New Age mantras promote that you can be like God, “ye shall be like God” [Genesis 3:the original lie of the Garden of Eden. Quite frankly, this is New Age to the core, with only a few Christian trappings, like using the name “Church”. Pretty demonic.

The Church Universal and Triumphant is a religious organization founded in 1958 by Mark Prophet, who later led the church alongside his wife, Elizabeth Clare Prophet. This sect is known for integrating diverse religious beliefs, drawing from Judeo-Christian principles as well as elements from Buddhism, Hinduism, and New Age thought. Initially called the Summit Lighthouse, it gained prominence in the 1970s and 1980s, particularly due to Elizabeth’s apocalyptic teachings, which included warnings of imminent nuclear disaster. The church built a bomb shelter and encouraged members to invest in supplies and gold, a strategy that ultimately led to financial losses when the predicted events did not occur.

The couple claimed that their past lives had helped them become messengers of the ascended masters. Because the Prophets were Messengers of the masters, their writings and words provided some of the most important guidance for the church.3

- Theosophical ancestry: Both systems develop ideas associated with Helena P. Blavatsky and the Theosophical Society, including hidden adepts, spiritual evolution, reincarnation, karma, and successive stages of human development.

- Channeled or “received” teachings: Bailey claimed telepathic instruction from a Tibetan teacher known as Djwal Khul. Mark and Elizabeth Prophet presented their teachings as dictations from named Ascended Masters.
- A hierarchical spiritual cosmos: Both describe levels of enlightened beings, cosmic laws, rays or energies, and humanity’s gradual evolution toward spiritual mastery.
